Fixing Machines is My Life

Welcome to my new spot on the net. My name is Joe Anastasio. I am an Engineer, a mechanic, a Socialist a husband and father. My life work has been making machines run, or run better.

I work at a Nuclear Power Plant. My title is System Engineer, but I really am a maintenance engineer. I work on the cooling water systems at Diablo Canyon power Plant. My charge is to keep equipment designed and built in the 60s running, to a high standard. I consort with a maintenance crew made up of some of the most capable machinists, electricians, technicians and operators on the planet. When we are working at our best we find problems and fix them, improving things whenever we can. We work together and learn from each other. I have had more fun at this job than I would ever want my employer to know.

My hobbies are: Flying and fixing sailplanes. Fixing and sometimes driving a couple of beater Jaguars. Fixing and improving the house (I am a fair carpenter, tilesetter, electrician and a mediocre plumber).

Fixing and improving have been what I do at home, at work and at play. I am resigned to this as my fate.

I have been told that I write well, that I am sometimes funny, and that I might have something to share. This is an attempt to see how far this can go.

Joe

  1. Hey Jo, I am glad to learn of your politics here. I somehow just came across an article regarding a DD adult that is transgender and you posted a comment below...way back in 2009. I don't know that you are still active on your site now, but I would like to chat with you if you find this note. I have an affirmed son, transgender with Down Syndrome, myself and I am so hoping to find others in such circumstance to reach out to...mnms_4u@yahoo.com.
